Aug 01, 2021
The 22nd annual Iowa sales tax holiday on select clothing and footwear is set for Friday, August 6 (12:01 am) through Saturday, August 7 (midnight). Online sales are also exempt from sales tax this year if they are bought and paid for during the time-period. Delivery can take place later.
As a general rule, no sales tax or local option sales tax will be collected on sales of an article of clothing or footwear having a selling price less than $100 (per item). Clothing does not include watches, watchbands, jewelry, umbrellas, handkerchiefs, sporting equipment, skis, swim fins, roller blades, skates, and any special clothing or footwear designed primarily for athletic activity or protective use and not usually considered appropriate for everyday wear. Store discounts can be applied to reduce an article’s price to under $100; however, a manufacturer’s coupon does not.
